Making Music, the UK’s membership organisation for leisure-time music groups, is pleased to announce the appointment of Miranda Glen as its new manager in Wales.

Bringing a wealth of experience working in the charity sector, Glen will support Making Music member groups in Wales and undertake campaigning and advocacy on their behalf, as well as the Welsh leisure-time music community in general.

Originally from Ontario, Canada, Glen has lived in the UK for 12 years and mid-Wales for the past three. She pursues a range of musical interests, from playing piano and guitar to choral singing, and is the founder and musical director of a leisure-time choir in her hometown of Llanfyllin. Her previous work in the charity sector, both in Canada and the UK, comes from a broad range of areas, including youth work, theatre and antenatal support.

Glen takes over the role from John Rostron, who had held the position since October 2019.

Barbara Eifler, Chief Executive of Making Music, said:

“We are delighted to introduce Miranda to the leisure-time music sector in Wales. Her passion for music and for it as a right for everyone to take part in and enjoy, shines through her every interaction. We feel sure she will continue John’s excellent work in supporting members in Wales and take this to the next stage.”

Miranda Glen, Making Music Manger, Wales, said:

“I’m very excited to champion leisure-time musicians in Wales, both in the English and Welsh languages. This is a country where music-making of all kinds is deeply entrenched in the national psyche, and the opportunity to nurture it is a great privilege. I’ve been making music since the age of six and it continues to occupy a major part of my life. I want to make music accessible to as many people as possible, no matter how young or old.”

Penodi Miranda Glen yn Rheolwr Making Music, Cymru

Mae Making Music, sefydliad aelodaeth y DU ar gyfer grwpiau cerddoriaeth amser hamdden, yn falch o gyhoeddi fod Miranda Glen wedi ei phenodi yn rheolwr newydd Cymru.

Gyda’i chyfoeth o brofiad o weithio yn y sector elusennol, bydd Glen yn cefnogi grwpiau sy’n aelodau o Making Music yng Nghymru ac yn ymgymryd â gwaith ymgyrchu ac eiriolaeth ar eu rhan, yn ogystal â’r gymuned gerddoriaeth amser hamdden yng Nghymru yn gyffredinol.

Mae Glen, sy’n dod yn wreiddiol o Ontario, Canada, wedi byw yn y DU am 12 mlynedd ac yng nghanolbarth Cymru yn ystod y tair blynedd diwethaf. Mae ganddi ystod eang o ddiddordebau cerddorol, o chwarae’r piano a’r gitâr i ganu corawl, a hi yw sylfaenydd a chyfarwyddwr cerddorol côr amser hamdden yn ei chartref yn Llanfyllin. Mae ei gwaith blaenorol yn y sector elusennol, yng Nghanada ac yn y DU, yn dod o ystod eang o feysydd, gan gynnwys gwaith ieuenctid, theatr a chymorth cynenedigol.

Mae Glen yn olynu John Rostron, a fu yn y swydd hon ers mis Hydref 2019.

Meddai Barbara Eifler, Prif Weithredwr Making Music:

“Rydym wrth ein bodd o gael cyflwyno Miranda i’r sector cerddoriaeth amser hamdden yng Nghymru. Mae ei hangerdd tuag at gerddoriaeth a’i chred fod gan bawb yr hawl i gymryd rhan a mwynhau cerddoriaeth, yn disgleirio drwy bopeth mae’n ei wneud.  Rydym yn siŵr y bydd yn bwrw ymlaen â gwaith rhagorol John drwy gefnogi aelodau yng Nghymru a mynd â hyn i’r cam nesaf.”

Meddai Miranda Glen, Rheolwr Making Music, Cymru:

“Rwy’n teimlo’n gyffrous iawn o gael hyrwyddo cerddorion amser hamdden yng Nghymru, yn Gymraeg ac yn Saesneg. Mae hon yn wlad lle mae creu a chwarae cerddoriaeth o bob math yn rhan greiddiol o’r meddylfryd cenedlaethol, ac mae cael y cyfle i feithrin hyn yn fraint enfawr. Rwyf wedi bod yn creu cerddoriaeth ers pan oeddwn yn chwech oed ac mae cerddoriaeth yn dal i fod yn rhan fawr o fy mywyd. Rydw i’n awyddus i sicrhau fod cerddoriaeth yn hygyrch i gymaint o bobl ag sydd bosibl, waeth pa mor ifanc neu waeth pa mor hen ydynt.”
