Lumas Winds are a dynamic young chamber ensemble comprising recent graduates from the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music, founded in 2018 after forming friendships at the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. They are committed ambassadors for the rich variety of the wind quintet repertoire, with a focus on works that they feel deserve a wider hearing.
Winners of the 71st Royal Over-Seas League Mixed Ensemble Prize, the group are currently Munster Recital Scheme Artists and Kirckman Concerts Society Young Artists, and have been Tunnel Trust Young Artists and Britten Pears Young Artists. Their debut album, The Naming of Birds (Champs Hill 2024), features works from each decade from 1960 to 2010, and includes three world premiere recordings.
