An accredited lecturer of The Arts Society, art historian Maria Chester travels all over the world exploring fascinating subjects ranging from the ancient civilisations of the Americas to palaeolithic art, ice age art and Baroque music and art.
Maria’s audio-visual lecture will be complemented by live music from Edinburgh’s Gal Trio, who were showcased as our rising stars in our first season. Emma Cairns (violin), Elinor Roderick (violin) and Serenna MacLellan (flute) will be joining Maria on stage playing selected 16th/17th century pieces from the vast catalogue of J.S. Bach, Vivaldi and Handel.
Featured artists critically assessed by Maria will include Velázquez, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Rubens, Poussin, and Vermeer.
Between them, Maria and The Gal Trio, will explore this magical creative period that revolutionised how we listen to and view music and art.
