The responsibility that lies with Chairs and other leaders of music organisations can feel overwhelming, particularly in times of change. Making Music is hosting this meetup so you can connect with others in the same role, and talk about your challenges and successes.
We’re continuing to explore succession planning with Chairs and other leaders at this meet up. There is a huge amount of knowledge and experience that current committee members, other people that help organise your activity and events, and you yourself as a leader hold. What practical tasks do we need to do to prepare for the day to come – and come it will! – when these important people move on.
We’ll talk about how to identify the key roles your group relies on, and the importance of role descriptions to make a team work well. We’d like to hear about your experience of change, and what key documents you had that meant change went well, or wished you had had if change was traumatic.
We’ll also demonstrate our Chairs networking tool, so you can link with others in your area or running a similar type of group to create peer to peer connections and conversations.
If you have an issue you’d like to put on the agenda for discussion, leave a note at sign up as there will be time to cover topics that the group requests.
We'll talk about:
- Holding on to knowledge and experience when people move on
- Understanding key roles, and writing role descriptions
- The documents you need that make change easier
- Peer to peer support from fellow leaders
- Other topics you’d like to discuss
There will be an opportunity to ask questions during the event.
