In true Chandos Choir tradition we are presenting a programme with a variety of musical styles and periods. What they have in common is that they are all excellent examples of their type, guaranteed to hold your attention.
We start with a selection of anthems by Henry Purcell, one of the most significant and innovative English composers. His mastery of counterpoint and his adventurous harmonies and his beautiful sense of melody are breathtaking. In our programme we will include I Was Glad, excerpts from Ode to St Cecilia amongst others
Our second half, in contrast, takes us 300 years forward to two musicals that are among the most popular ever written, Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera. The arrangements include choral and solo components from the shows, familiar and beautiful melodies, stirring emotions and powerful choruses. We love singing them and hope you enjoy listening to them
We look forward to seeing you on the 14th
