Chelmsford Singers Spring Concert: Mozart and Mendelssohn

Chelmsford Singers’ Spring concert will be on Saturday, May 4th 2024 at St Luke's Church, Church Rd, Tiptree, Colchester CO5 0SU, starting at 7pm.

Tickets will be £20, with under 16s free. Refreshments will be served. Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets are available from chelmsfordsingers.co.uk.

Ably conducted by James Davy, the Singers return to the classical canon with a performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Solemn Vespers, which includes the famous Laudate Dominum. They will provide a second helping of Mozart in the form of Regina Coeli (KV276), and complement this with Felix Mendelssohn’s Lauda Sion, an 8-movement work originally commissioned by a Belgian church in the 18th century. Brentwood Cathedral's organist, Stephen King, will accompany them on the organ. They will be joined by a quartet of excellent soloists including the soprano Jessica Edom-Carey.

James Davy has been director of The Chelmsford Singers since 2012 when he was appointed Director of Music at Chelmsford Cathedral and is currently pursuing a freelance career as an organist and conductor across East Anglia.

The Chelmsford Singers have been engaged in quality music making since 1927.
