Collegium Singers in Concert - Rejoice!

So much to Rejoice in, now that we are emerging from the pandemic.

Collegium Singers' last live concert was on Match 14th 2020, just before the first lock down.  In the intervening months we have appointed a new Music Director, Elinor Cooper, who has patiently waited to work with us all. We resumed full rehearsal mode this Autumn and are greatly looking forward to sharing live music with you again.

In this programme we return with poignant festival anthems including two commissioned by the Rev Walter Hussey, a great supporter of the arts, who invited Benjamin Britten and Gerald Finzi to write anthems for his church. We shall also be singing some of Henry Purcell and William Byrd's best loved anthems, finishing the evening with one of the most uplifting anthems of all, Hubert Parry's I was Glad.

Programme:

First half

Sing Joyfully – William Byrd

Hear my prayer – Henry Purcell

Remember, not Lord, our Offences – Henry Purcell

Rejoice in the Lamb – Benjamin Britten

Second half

Lo, the full final sacrifice – Gerald Finzi

I was glad – Hubert Parry
