On Good Friday the magnificent tapestry of Christ the Redeemer is the backdrop to our concert of music for Passiontide. Join us on a journey with music starting in 17th century London before heading to Coventry’s twin town of Dresden some 50 years later. We’ll continue to Vienna in 1844 before returning to England for three pieces composed between 1942 and 1993.​

There are some strong contrasts of style in the music we offer, from the ethereal layers of sound in Purcell’s Hear My Prayer to the scrunching dissonance of John Sanders’ The Reproaches. Each piece reflects in its own way on the events of Holy Week leading up to the Crucifixion of Jesus.
