Location
Following the success of our first meeting for leisure-time instrumental ensemble conductors back in the autumn, and a desire by attendees to continue with such sessions, Making Music will be hosting this second meet-up, to facilitate musical directors of instrumental leisure time music groups discussing development and opportunities.
One of the topics that came up in the autumn was the relationship between MD and committee of the group, so this time we will hear from some Chairs of groups about the relationship they have with their MD, how they manage things, what works, what doesn’t.
We will also pick up the conversation from last time about diversifying repertoire and take a look at the resource Making Music is currently putting together to help highlight resources to access different repertoire, looking for MDs to input any additional links or databases.
The discussion will be facilitated by Helen Harrison Music Director and Conductor of Making Music member groups Blackpool Symphony Orchestra and Preston Opera and Making Music CEO Barbara Eifler.
Other speakers to be confirmed.
We'll talk about:
- Working as a Musical Director with your committee
- Diversifying repertoire
- Network(ing) and peer support needs or wishes
- Making Music and other resources
