Location
An event for Scottish member groups to meet in person, for peer to peer connections, and to hear from Manager in Scotland, Alison Reeves. We’ll be exploring the support that libraries give to music groups – and what musicians can give back to library communities in return.
Come together with other organisers of leisure time music groups in Scotland, to explore opportunities and discuss challenges – in person! Making Music’s Manager in Scotland will be leading this meeting at Edinburgh Central Library, which will cover current issues for Scottish members. With Scottish Parliament elections coming up next year, we’ll talk about the most pressing big picture issues for our groups. But we’ll also have time to talk about the important details of how groups get things done, so bring your questions and headaches to share with the group.
Meeting in the library is a great opportunity to talk about how libraries support music groups through their lending services and other community connections, including the We Make Music Libraries project, which engages new learners through instrument lending and workshops.
Stay after the event to hear Bristo Community Concert Band, a Making Music member who will be playing a free concert in the library at 1pm. A non-auditioning concert band, they aim to encourage as many people as possible to enjoy playing music; from swing and big band, to film scores and some popular surprises. Tickets are free, but should be booked in advance as it could be busy! Bristo Community Concert Band @ Edinburgh Central Library
