The year 2025 brings three important anniversaries: Bob Chilcott (70), Sir John Rutter (80) and the great Estonian composer Arvo Pärt (90). We recognise these three remarkable and influential composers of choral music with a concert featuring pieces which originate in very different sound worlds, but which are all inspired by deep spirituality; from Chilcott’s works that draw on many different jazz styles, through Pärt’s sacred Beatitudes, to Rutter’s stirring arrangement of well-known spirituals, written especially for mezzo-soprano Melanie Marshall, one of Britain’s most versatile vocal artists.
