CHRISTOPHER HERRICK Conductor
ABOUT
For fifty years, Christopher Herrick has been the Director of Music of Twickenham Choral. On Saturday 22 June he will be conducting the choir for one last time in a performance of one of the greatest of all choral masterpieces, Verdi’s Requiem.
Not only will it be Christopher’s swansong, but the occasion will mark the 150th anniversary of the first performance of the Requiem, at first derided by one contemporary conductor as ‘Verdi’s latest opera, though in ecclesiastical robes’, but quickly endorsed by none other than Brahms himself, who hailed it as a work of genius.
Come and join Twickenham Choral at Cadogan Hall to experience the Requiem’s extraordinary whirlwind of spine-tingling emotions – passion, anger, terror, calm – which call on the utmost resources from the choir, soloists and full orchestra.
