Newbury Symphony Orchestra

Founded in 1879, Newbury Symphony Orchestra is one of the oldest non-professional orchestras in England. It comprises 40-50 enthusiastic musicians of all ages and draws its members and audience from four counties. Our resident conductor is Dr Jonathan Williams and leader is Wendy Clark.

A major objective of the orchestra is to contribute to creating live music in the local community. We encourage participation by musicians throughout the Newbury area and support young soloists by inviting them to perform concertos. Rehearsals take place in Newbury on Wednesday evenings during school terms.
