Wessex Sinfonietta

Founded in 2014, Wessex Sinfonietta has established itself as one of Hampshire’s leading chamber orchestras. Professionals and similarly talented musicians perform exciting and entertaining programmes at a high level.
The orchestra enjoys performing with highly-regarded guest conductors. This season, conductors who have been invited to conduct the orchestra are Jonathan Lo (Royal Opera House), José Salazar (Jette Parker Artist Programme, Royal Opera House), Daniel Hogan (Opera North), Leo Geyer (BBC).
In 2022, the Wessex Sinfonietta was appointed the Resident Orchestra at the Royal Victoria Chapel, Netley, in recognition of the long-term association it is developing with the chapel and planning concerts far into the future. The Royal Victoria Chapel is all that remains of Netley’s vast Royal Victoria Hospital which cared for sick and wounded soldiers for 100 years from Victorian times to the 1960s. In 2015, the Heritage Lottery Fund granted £3.1m to restore this Grade II listed chapel. The stunning stained-glass windows and high, elegant ceilings provide the perfect acoustic in which to enjoy some wonderful concerts.
