There are many well known benefits of community singing:

  • Relieve stress and improve mental wellbeing. In our fast-paced and demanding world, stress has become an all too familiar companion!
  • Boost confidence and self-esteem.
  • Learn to read music and sing a wide variety of different styles
  • Build long-lasting friendships.
  • Share your voice and bring smiles to your community whilst raising vital money for local charities

Thinking about joining a choir?  Look no further than Alton Choral Society which has been delighting audiences for over 150 years!

We are a friendly group of singers who get together to rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 7.45pm in the Salvation Army Hall, GU34 1HN (on the corner of Market Street and Amery Street).

We welcome new singers of all ages and voice types. Some ability to read music is helpful, but not essential. There is no audition.

We give 4 or more concerts a year with a wide variety of music from classical and Baroque to songs from the shows and other light music and raise substantial funds for local and international charities.

For lovers of Christmas classics, we are also involved with the sell-out Wonder of Christmas concert at the Alton Maltings centre.  We perform alongside Ancora and Alton Concert Band to provide a free concert for the community of Alton. A super way to start the festive season!
