Musical Director

CANTORES OLICANAE is a mixed-voice choir of around 50 singers, based in llkley, West Yorkshire.

Since 2019, we have gone from strength to strength under our inspirational Musical Director. He has challenged us to perform new and interesting repertoire, with an eye for detail that has produced performances which have earned great reviews.

But our MD is now moving away from the area to further his career, and we have the difficult task of filling his shoes!

Building on our experience of working with excellent Musical Directors over many years, we know that our new MD must:

• have a positive attitude to life, with patience and a lively sense of humour
• be an exceptional musician
• be able to take rehearsals from the keyboard, on occasions when we do not have an accompanist
• be able to enthuse the choir with energy and passion
• have a vision for the choir which builds on our progress to date and challenges us to further improve our singing
• encourage the choir to continue in its search for the highest of standards, inspiring us to face new musical challenges
• be able to curate interesting and attractive programmes, being mindful of the financial viability of the choir
• be prepared to think 'out of the box' regarding new projects and support our aim to promote choral music opportunities to the wider Ilkley community.
