Tenor choral scholar

Vacancy Type:
Application deadline:
Thursday, 15 February 2024
Description of vacancy:

Chiswick Choir (also known as West London Chorus) has a vacancy for a tenor scholar from January 2024. The successful candidate is expected to attend most weekly rehearsals on Tuesday evenings 7:45-9:45pm in term time at St Paul's Church, Grove Park W4 3SD, in addition to around three performances a year. The scholarship is worth £900 and runs for a year. It is open to singers aged 18-30, or students in full or part-time education.

The scholarship is ideal for aspiring professional singers wishing to develop their choral singing and sight-reading, or in preparation for university choral scholarships, and as a means of broadening repertoire knowledge. There are occasional solo/quartet/emi-chorus opportunities, and also a chance to receive coaching from the choir's Musical Director, Hilary Campbell. Choral scholars are expected to take an active role with social media for the ensemble.

The choral society stages at least three major concerts each year, often with professional orchestras and soloists. We have been on tour both in the UK and abroad, and sometimes deputise as a visiting choir in cathedrals such as York and Llandaff. We have an auditioned membership of between 80-100 singers drawn from the London area.
