Description of vacancy: 

Dartington Community Choir is celebrating its 40th Anniversay season of joyous music-making and our members value the ethos of community, friendship, and fun.  In recent years our concert performances have been highlights of the Dartington music programme, most notably  this April when we performed Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony with the internationally acclamed baritone Roderick Williams.  Always aiming for the highest possible standards of choral singing, and never shy of attemptng challenging repertoire, DCC has a deservedly sound reputation for excellence, as shown in our reviews.

We are seeking a Music Director who shares our values and who will direct us to continue to improve.  The successful candidate can be assured of support from a competent and dedicated Management Committee.

Candidates should be able to:-  inspire, motivate, and train the choir for both rehearsals and concerts; conduct the choir plus professional orchestra and soloists for concerts; demonstrate a deep knowledge of of choral repertoire and performance styles of different musical genres; advise on performance partners, orchestra, and soloists; create interesting and challenging programmes; collaborate with other choirs; work within agreed budgets; work with the choir's accompanist; provide programme notes when required; attend Management Committee meetings when required; liaise with Dartington Arts.
