Musical Director

A rare opportunity has arisen at Derby Choral Union for the position of Musical Director (MD), following the relocation of our current MD. With a rich history of over 150 years of music making in the city, Derby Choral Union is considered one of the leading choral societies in the region.

We are seeking a highly capable and enthusiastic professional with experience in choral leadership, who will continue to raise performance standards and develop our repertoire.

• We are an auditioned SATB choir of about 100 adult members, performing 3-4 concerts a year, featuring a range of sacred and secular works, including contemporary music.

• We rehearse on Tuesday evenings 7.30–9.30 September to April, at Derby Grammar School, DE23 4BX.

• We have an elected Committee which supports the Musical Director and oversees the running of the choir and its organisation.

It is anticipated that the new Musical Director will take up the position in early September 2019 for the start of our 154th Season. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with the Committee in selecting the programme of concerts for that season.

Remuneration will be based on ISM recommended rates.
