Chamber choir Music Director

Application deadline:
Monday, 5 June 2023
Description of vacancy:

Epsom Chamber Choir, an auditioned choir of around 36 experienced singers, is looking for a new musical director to start in September 2023 or January 2024. The choir has a reputation as one of Surrey's leading chamber choirs and performs to a high standard, either a Capella or accompanied by piano/organ or instrumental ensemble.  Our repertoire includes secular and sacred music from plainsong through to present day compositions.  Further details are available on our website https;//www.Epsomchamberchoir.org.uk

Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong experience of choral conducting, an understanding of vocal technique and a good knowledge of the choral repertoire.  Good keyboard skills are desirable as the choir usually rehearses without an accompanist.  Enthusiasm, organisational skills and the ability to communicate clearly are essential.  Our next conductor should have the vision and creativity to enable the choir to maintain its excellent reputation.  Applicants will be expected to nominate a suitable deputy if unable to attend a rehearsal or concert.

The choir rehearses within walking distance of Epsom Station on Thursday evenings during term times.  There are four main concerts per year as well as ad hoc events such as cathedral services.

Requests for further particulars and applications should be addressed to secretary@epsomchamberchoir.org.uk  Your application should include a letter of introduction and a current CV.  In addition, applicants should include a 'sample' concert programme that the applicant feels would be appropriate for the choir.  In your covering letter you should say why you are interested in applying for the post.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview in June/July.  Successful interviewees will be invited to audition at a rehearsal in July.
