Musical Director of North Prospect Community Choir, Plymouth

Application deadline:
Monday, 9 July 2018
Description of vacancy:

North Prospect Community Choir is a non-auditioned, inclusive, vibrant, fun and friendly choir in Plymouth, launched in 2016. We have over 30 committed members of various ages and backgrounds who enjoy coming together weekly during term-time for fun and uplifting rehearsals. We perform a concert at the end of every term for our local community, and these are always wonderful and well-supported events. We have excellent links with Mayflower Community Academy where we hold rehearsals and concerts. We were awarded a Vital Sparks grant from Plymouth Council in our first year, and are currently applying for funding to commission a composer to work with us to create a piece to be piloted at the Atlantic Festival in Oct 2018 with a view to creating a larger work in collaboration with the local school for the Mayflower 2020 celebrations.

See our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/northprospectcommunitychoir) for more videos from our latest concert. Being fun, friendly, accessible and inclusive come strictly before musical skill and accomplishment, but as you can see we usually end up sounding pretty good!

The Musical Director will be required to prepare and conduct rehearsals, and put together concert programmes in agreement with the committee. Salary agreed by negotiation.

If you are interested in being considered for this exciting role, please email David Walters at diviwalters@gmail.com or send us a message via the choir's Facebook page. Interviews and a trial session with the choir will take place on Monday 16th July 2018 from 5pm or by arrangement.
