Advert for MD

Application deadline:
Sunday, 28 June 2020
Description of vacancy:

The Ratcliffe Chorale is looking for a talented and motivational Musical Director to lead and inspire us from September 2020.

We are an all-inclusive and friendly mixed choir of around 55 singers of varied ages and mixed abilities. We meet on Monday evenings from 7.15 to 9pm during term time at Ratcliffe College near Leicester and enjoy occasional social events throughout the year.

The Chorale was founded 27 years ago. Since then we have enjoyed the continuity of rehearsing and then performing our music in and around Leicestershire. We both rehearse and perform with piano accompaniment. We generally sing in three Christmas concerts and then three in June/July, always giving our services freely to raise money for charities or local causes.

Our musical repertoire has always been very varied and, to satisfy and interest the members of our group, we have enjoyed learning many different genres, from classical to jazz, from sacred to secular and from stage to Classic FM. We find that such a varied programme is the most suitable for a non-specialist fundraising concert.

The candidate should demonstrate leadership and the skills required to maintain and develop the choir, enabling us to improve our performance, grow our numbers and support the group's sense of community and enjoyment of music-making.

The successful applicant will work closely with the committee during the planning stages and will conduct and introduce the choir at concerts.

The appointment will be from September 2020 and comes with a remuneration dependent on experience. For further information contact our Chair, Sue Roberts at susanm77roberts@gmail.com.

Please email a CV or letter detailing your experience.

The closing date for applications is 28th June 2020. Selected applicants will be interviewed, possibly on Skype or similar, by a small panel and we hope to invite short-listed candidates to direct a short rehearsal of the choir as soon as is possible, given the current situation regarding Coronavirus.
