The Royal Leamington Spa Bach Choir is seeking a new Musical Director to succeed Nigel Stark from December 2018. We are looking to appoint an outstanding choral musician with a proven track record of leading amateur choirs. Established almost 80 years ago, the RLSBC is an accomplished, enthusiastic and well-established choir of some 75 singers performing 3 or 4 concerts a year. It is run by an active, elected committee in collaboration with the Musical Director. Our repertoire includes both the traditional choral classics from composers such as Bach, Handel, Haydn & Brahms as well as more modern choral music from composers of the 20th & 21st Centuries. The Choir performs with a professional orchestra and soloists for at least two of its annual concerts.
The Choir, which is auditioned, aims to give performances of the highest musical standard and operates in a very competitive musical scene around Coventry and South Warwickshire. Recent performances have included Masses by Kodály and Jongen, Handel’s Messiah and Will Todd’s Mass in Blue. The Choir is currently rehearsing Haydn’s Creation to be performed in March with the Beauchamp Sinfonietta. In early December, we are planning to perform Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Musical & Amicable Society.
The Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings in Leamington with an outstanding professional accompanist. The position is remunerated, both for rehearsals and concerts. Please go to our website: http://rlsbc.org for further information on the choir.
To apply, please first contact the choir secretary via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Closing date for applications is 14th April 2018
