Musical Director

The Festival Chorus, Hackney is a community choir now in its 25th year. Our musical director is John K Andrews and we have two professional repetiteurs, Louisa Lam and Will Gardner. We are about 50 strong and non-auditioned. We have sung most of the major works in the choral repertoire. We are currently rehearsing Handel’s Messiah. In Spring we will sing Zelenka’s Missa Votiva in London and Paris with Choeurs Resonances, Paris  (see https://www.festivalchorushackney.org.uk/)

Our rehearsals are on Sundays, 17.30 – 19.00 at St John of Jerusalem Church, South Hackney. Our conductors are paid £100 for the 90 minute rehearsal. We are looking for an enthusiastic young conductor who would be able to take rehearsals in John’s absence and might be able to take occasional workshops and other events.
