Trainee Assistant Choir conductor

Application deadline:
Friday, 27 October 2023
Description of vacancy:

Wareham Choral Society (WCS) seek to appoint a trainee/assistant conductor.
Are you looking for more experience with an amateur choir? Would you like to try out conducting with a friendly group of people? Are you interested in sitting in on rehearsals, assisting with warm ups, conducting some pieces, with feedback from a more experienced conductor? Would you like to deputise and take rehearsals occasionally, and have a chance to conduct part of a concert or lead part of a ‘workshop day’?
Wareham Choral Society are seeking to appoint a trainee/assistant conductor. This is a position to help a beginner/early stage conductor gain skills and experience. This position is open to all ages. Maybe you’ve found yourself standing in front of a choir occasionally and want to learn more with a four part mixed ability choir? WCS are a registered charity and currently have 30 members. Thus we are only able to offer a travel allowance for weekly rehearsals. However rehearsals, concerts and workshops for which the trainee deputises for the MD will be paid a suitable fee, to be agreed between WCS and the applicant.
WCS meets in Lady St Mary Church, Wareham at 7.30 – 9.30pm Monday evenings in term time and performs at least 2 concerts per year.
