Appointment of Musical Director for Woodbridge Orchestra

Application deadline:
Saturday, 15 August 2020
Description of vacancy:

The Woodbridge Orchestral Society is an amateur orchestra of around 35 players, meeting on Monday evenings during the autumn and spring terms.  Our members include both experienced amateurs and improvers while limiting the woodwind and brass sections to maintain a balanced orchestra.

It is managed by a committee which, in consultation with its musical director, selects a varied programme of music each year   At present this includes a symphony as the main focus for the autumn term, culminating in an informal “At Home” play-through before Christmas.  Further works are then studied in the spring term leading to a public concert held just before Easter.

In the past it has had close links with well-known local composers Roger Quilter, Imogen Holst and Bernard Barrell who wrote works specifically for the orchestra.

Looking to the future, the orchestra is keen to continue its exploration of the orchestral repertoire.
