Musical Director, Worle Community Choir, Weston Super Mare.
We are looking for a reliable and skilled MD to take over the musical leadership of our amazing community choir of 50 plus members, commencing March 21st 2019. Passion and enthusiasm are more important to us than extensive experience of choral conducting. If you are right for us we will work around your skills. We have a very talented piano accompanist.
Based in Weston Super Mare, rehearsals take place between 7.30 pm – 9.30 pm on Thursday nights throughout the year. We pay £50 for each 2 hour rehearsal and £100 per concert. We pay a negotiated fee for any musical arrangements. Ability to do musical arrangements is not, however, a necessary prerequisite of this post.
We perform two major concerts per year and many other community events. We also perform at Grove Park as part of the Weston Sunday afternoon concert programme. We have held joint concerts with Weston Brass Band and Worle Academy Youth Choir. We have twice achieved a Distinction at the Highbridge Music Festival. We are a registered charity.
We are an established choir with a mixture of less experienced and more seasoned singers who enjoy working in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our genre is primarily contemporary and modern music.
