Congleton Choral Society invites applications for the post of Music Director, from September 2021 following our Music Director’s re-location to Aberdeen. Christopher Cromar was our music Director for 10 years, achieving a high standard of performance and inspiring a high level of commitment from singers. We are a well-established, fully-auditioned SATB choir, with around 80 singers. We have not met in person since March 2020 but have continued with online activities and short rehearsals via Zoom. We intend to meet as normal from September 2021. The pandemic has affected our singers in many ways, so we are seeking a new Music Director who will help re-energise the choir when we return. We meet in term time for approximately ten weeks each term, preparing for four concerts, Autumn, Christmas, Easter and finally at the end of the Summer term. We also hold occasional singing days which are open to non-members. We meet on Monday nights from 7.30 till 9.45 with a 15 minute tea break and we usually perform in Congleton Town Hall. We are seeking a leader who will provide new challenges and combine their own ideas with ours for future programmes. We are looking for an enthusiastic leader who is encouraging, innovative, and patient with a good sense of fun. This is a paid position based on a fee per rehearsal and per concert which will be discussed at interview. Please contact our Secretary, Caroline Johnson secretary@congletonchoralsociety.org.uk, for an application form by 21st June 2021. We plan to interview candidates in early July and audition shortlisted candidates in early August. Candidates will be asked to conduct a short rehearsal with the choir, restrictions allowing, with our regular accompanist. We hope the successful candidate will open our first rehearsal of the 2021/22 season on Monday 6th September 2021. We look forward to hearing from you.
