On Wednesday 29 May (from 8am onwards) Making Music will be migrating all Platforms onto a new server.
Why will the MM Platforms be migrated to a new server?
Making Music has a security function set up on all servers which flags if there are any potential vulnerabilities. This is a precautionary measure which allows us to take necessary actions and implement extra security features before any problems occur. Our server where the MM Platforms are hosted, has flagged a potential vulnerability which has now been reviewed. We have been advised by Hosting UK (the company which hosts the servers where MM Platforms are held) that we should migrate to a new server as a precautionary measure.
Essentially this is a good thing, a vulnerability has been flagged and we are now able to plan ahead and ensure that this vulnerability will not develop into a problem in the future. To mitigate this risk, all MM platforms will therefore be migrated across to a new server on Wednesday 29 May.
When will the server migration take place and how long will it take?
The developer will start the server migration on Wednesday 29 May at approximately 8am. There are a few parts to the migration process and as a result we are not able to give you a set completion time but expect the process to take around 5-7 hours to complete.
How will our MM Platform be impacted during this time?
There will be some downtime during the migration process which means that MM Platforms will be offline while the migration takes place (around 5-7 hours). We therefore advise that you prepare for this scenario by letting any members/friends etc. know that the website will not be available during this time.
We will provide you with any further information required ahead of the migration (if any) and will also confirm on the day once the migration has completed and the MM Platforms are back online.
