Bracknell & Wokingham Choral Societies present an epic performance of Elgar’s masterpiece at Guildford Cathedral
At the majestic Guildford Cathedral, famed for its excellent acoustics, Bracknell and Wokingham Choral Societies will perform "The Dream of Gerontius". A piece that is widely regarded as Elgar's finest choral work.
With our talented professional conductor, George de Voil, and Choirmaster Greg Hallam, 180 singers, 3 professional soloists, the 60-piece British Sinfonietta Orchestra, underpinned by the Cathedral’s mighty organ, played by Ben Giddens, this concert will be a not-to-be-missed performance of epic proportions.
As Elgar himself described his setting of the poem by John Henry Newman, 'This is the best of me; for the rest, I ate, and drank, and slept, loved and hated, like another: my life was as the vapour and is not; but this I saw and knew; this, if anything of mine, is worth your memory.’
