Our Choir was formed in 2017 by Robin and Sarah. Their vision was to create a choir for people who aren’t confident enough to join a ‘proper’ choir - where people can meet, enjoy singing and develop their confidence amongst friends. The emphasis is on having fun, and learning at your own pace. If you love to sing but haven’t sung in a choir, don’t read music or just feel you can’t hold a tune – you’re in the right place! But if you can do any of that then great, you can help the rest of us. Our philosophy is that it's more important to have fun than to worry about singing in tune. As one of the newest members said "singing is food for the soul". The sense of community that has blossomed since the choir started has been fantastic, with social events becoming a regular occurrence and no one worrying whether they or their neighbour can hold a tune.
We rehearse a wide varity of songs from pop/rock to folk, sea shanties and musicals under the direction of a MD. The MD uses guide tracks and sheet music to teach us and improve our timing and singing. We use the Virtual Creations Harmony website and the smaertphone app which enables practice outside the rehearsal sessions. Currently the arragements and Guide Tracks are chosen in consultation with the MD and Seb created many of the GTs for us and his other choirs.
