Contemporary composer Kerry Andrew’s Rhymes & Charms for Flyaway Things inspired the concert’s title. The piece was commissioned by Making Music after Andrew won their prize at the 2010 British Composer Awards. KCS Musical Director Andrew Griffiths’ imaginative programme juxtaposes thismodern collection of “very sweet” songs about nature with well-loved renaissance madrigals, andfurther blends tradition with modernity with a performance of the beautifully harmonised arrangements of John Rutter’s folk song cycle, A Sprig of Thyme.
Andrew Griffiths will conduct the choir, accompanied by special guest, the distinguished pianist, Libby Burgess.
