Conductor/Music Director

"The Stonehaven Chorus" is a long established community choral society in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.

The choir rehearses on a Monday evening from the end of August to mid May at Mackie Academy in Stonehaven, and stages two main concerts each year in December and May). We have also undertaken tours both locally and internationally (e.g. visiting Hungary, Austria and Slovakia most recently in 2024).

The choir is mixed in ability but with some good singers in every part. We have taken on some ambitious music over the years - from old favourites like the Mozart Requiem and Elijah to unknown gems like Holst’s First Choral Symphony and Dvorak’s St Ludmila. May concerts often feature professional soloists and a small ensemble, with custom arrangements. Christmas programmes tend to be a mix of traditional carols, modern re-arrangements or new compositions and some lighter numbers.

The Music Director is well-supported with ideas from a Music Committee to assemble the programme for each concert.
