Musical Director

Laudamus Chamber Choir wishes to appoint a new Musical Director to start in January 2026.

Founded in 1993, Laudamus is a SATB choir of around 25 auditioned singers who rehearse on alternate Sunday evenings in Addlestone, Surrey. We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Musical Director to help us extend our varied repertoire whilst attracting new singing members and wider audiences. We currently sing a wide range of music, both classical and secular, and yearly we present two concerts and a Come and Sing event, seeking to add variety by collaborating with other musicians in the area. Recent collaborations have included a Christmas Concert with the St Lawrence Chobham Handbell Ringers and Worplesdon Parish’s Young Musician of the Year, a Come & Sing rehearsing Chilcott’s A Little Jazz Mass & Will Todd’s Three Jazz Hymns accompanied by piano, bass & drums, and a VE Day Concert reprising the Little Jazz Mass, singing a WWII Medley and full versions of other songs from that era, again accompanied by a jazz trio. Other composers featured in the last few years include Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Stanford, Holst, Gershwin, Rutter & Stopford. Laudamus has built up a substantial music library and we seek to develop our repertoire further by hiring etc. We are fortunate to have a very capable accompanist and to have received a grant from the Humphrey Richardson Taylor Trust for our 2024-2025 season. After interview, those short listed will be invited to rehearse the choir on 16th November 2025. The successful candidate will be invited to liaise with our present MD shortly thereafter to ensure a smooth hand-over of responsibilities
