Ieva Dubova (also known professionally as Aura Mae) is a Newcastle-based, award-winning pianist and composer. Her work bridges classical repertoire, contemporary composition, and interdisciplinary performance.
Latvian-born, she trained at Trinity Laban Conservatoire under Alexander Ardakov, with guest study under Pascal Rogé, and later completed a master’s degree in composition at Newcastle University. Her concert appearances span the UK and Europe, with performances at the Royal Albert Hall, Brudenell Piano Sessions, Newcastle Piano Festival, and the Étoiles Musicales International Piano Competition in Morocco, where she served as guest composer, adjudicator, and lecturer. She has held several artistic residencies and often integrates sound art, improvisation, and live film accompaniment into her practice.
In the first half of her programme, titled 'Letters and Departures', Ieva will play works by Mozart and Liszt before Beethoven's 'Les Adieux' Sonata. The second half, which she calls 'Mist and Memory', contains works by Debussy, Satie, Janáček and Takemitsu as well as new pieces by Ieva herself and by former BMS Chair, Mike Worboys.
