Gustav Holst became fascinated with astrology on a visit to Majorca in 1913, to the extent that it developed into a lifelong interest. He wrote The Planets Suite between 1914 and 1917 with each movement named after a planet in our Solar System. The music represents the astrological character of the planets rather than their physical attributes. Whichever is your favourite movement, you will love becoming reacquainted with this popular interpretation of The Planets.
