Accompanist

Cherwell Choral Society is a long established non-auditioned choral society, currently with around 60 members.  It has acquired a reputation for producing high quality performances, with three or four concerts a year supported by professional musicians and soloists.   Our repertoire is a mixture of traditional choral works together with some lesser known and contemporary pieces.  We rehearse in Bodicote, near Banbury, Oxfordshire, on Tuesday evenings. 

We aspire to advance even further the reputation of the choir, to achieve outstanding concert performances of a varied repertoire, and to provide an enjoyable and stimulating experience for choir members both at rehearsal and concert.  See our website Cherwell Choral Society for further background information.

We are seeking an Accompanist for our weekly rehearsals, to start ideally in January 2026, due to  the retirement of our current accompanist. This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent keyboard player with enthusiasm for a varied classical choral repertoire.   We expect that the successful candidate will be able to play both full accompaniment and choral parts to a high standard, and will have good sight reading skills, the flexibility to provide keyboard support to the Musical Director as needed, and the ability to build rapport with our Musical Director and singers. We offer competitive remuneration, payable per rehearsal,  based on skills and experience.  Engagement will be on a self employed basis.
