Guest Blog: Want to improve your skills and confidence as a performer and develop as a musician?

Corporate members Trinity Laban introduce their new Certificate: The Practice of Music Making

The Certificate is a new one-year programme developed by Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, in partnership with the Open University. It gives you the opportunity to develop your practical music making and performance skills, so that you’ll feel more confident, skilled and well-rounded as a performer.

You might be an army musician, jazz, folk, rock or pop performer, sing in a choir or play in an orchestra. The course is designed for instrumentalists and singers who participate in any genre of music and there are no auditions to gain entry or requirements for any formal qualifications.

It might be that you’ve learned to sing or play music informally, that you want to return to music making after a time away, or you’ve previously studied music and wish to further develop your performance skills. You can do the Certificate as a stand-alone course, or, if you’re interested in taking it further, it counts towards a full degree from the Open University.

After a period of distance learning, our current students came together in April for a week long residential at Trinity Laban’s World Heritage Site campus in Greenwich, London. Hear about the course in their own words and how it’s changed the way they play and perform music in this short film:

You can also hear all about the day-to-day learning and how to weave it into your everyday life from Sheree, a current student who shares her experience of the Certificate here

Applications are now open for study starting in October 2017 via UCAS Conservatoires. If you’d like to find out more about the Certificate and how it can help you and you music, contact us at admissions@trinitylaban.ac.uk.
