A sheet music discount from new Corporate members Hawes Music

We’re pleased to welcome Hawes Music as Corporate Members of Making Music, and to announce a fantastic discount on sheet music for our member groups.

Hawes Music is the publishing house founded by composer Patrick Hawes. Born in Grimsby, Patrick is an English composer who has made his mark as a torchbearer of the English musical tradition of Vaughan Williams and Delius. He is best known for writing the Highgrove Suite for HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, for being Composer-in-Residence at Classic FM, and for the Number One album Angel.

Among others, he has written for Voces8, the Choir of New College Oxford, Julian Lloyd Webber, and Hayley Westenra on albums that have all reached Number One in the classical charts. Patrick has recently written works for The King's Singers alongside a clarinet concerto for Emma Johnson. His eighth album, Revelation, recorded with The Elora Singers (Canada), was released with Naxos Records in March 2017 to critical acclaim.

Patrick has written several new works to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War including Eventide: In Memoriam Edith Cavell, I Know The Music and The Angel of Mons. His latest work, The Great War Symphony, is a new choral symphony to mark the end of the First World War. The work is in aid of SSAFA, the armed forces charity. The premiere will be in London's Royal Albert Hall on 9th October 2018 with Classic FM, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, as well as guest soloists, military musicians and choirs from around the country.  This will be followed by the U.S. Premiere in New York's Carnegie Hall on 11 November 2018 - the exact centenary of the Armistice.
