The Winning of Barbara Worth – Film with Live Orchestra

Silent film. Live orchestra. Experience the wild west as you've never heard it before.

The Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra presents something entirely new – and thrilling – for its 80th season: a live performance of the sweeping score to the 1926 silent epic The Winning of Barbara Worth, performed alongside a screening of the original film.

Starring Hollywood legends Ronald ColmanVilma Bánky, and a young Gary Cooper in his breakthrough role, this romantic Western is a story of ambition, love, and survival set against the stark beauty of the California desert.  At its heart is a breathtaking, edge-of-your-seat flood sequence – a landmark in early cinema – brought to life with the full force of the orchestra live on stage.

Expect soaring melodies, dramatic tension, and the magic of classic cinema as you've never experienced it before.  Whether you’re a film buff, a music lover, or just looking for something totally different –this will be a unique night out at the movies complete with a live symphonic twist.
