Perform free new music for CoMA festival 2020

The weekend of 7-8 March 2020 sees the return of the biennial Festival of Contemporary Music (run by Contemporary Music for All, CoMA) and this time there’s a great way for you to get involved.

If you have an instrumental or vocal performance scheduled for 7-8 March 2020, or are considering creating an event for that weekend or during the week leading up to 7 March, you can take part in the Festival simply by including one or more of CoMA’s free Open Score works in your programme.

CoMA are making these normally paid-for works available absolutely free for the Festival. No matter what the size and make up of your ensemble, the flexibly-scored nature of these pieces means you are almost certain to find pieces that you would like to perform. With Open Score pieces between 5 and 15 minutes long, this is an excellent way of experimenting with some new music at no cost to you, and for gaining additional publicity and promotion for your event.

To take part, simply...

  • Browse the music that's available at www.coma.org/catalogue to find out which works to play or sing. Contact library@coma.org for further information and advice on the music.
  • If you decide to go ahead with a particular work, contact library@coma.org with details of your event – the venue, date, time and programme and the piece/s you want to use. You will then be sent - FREE of charge - the scores and parts of your chosen piece.
  • CoMA will register your event on the online Festival map, and promote it on the CoMA website and printed promotional material alongside events throughout the country.

Works acquired for the Festival are for the sole use of your ensemble at your event scheduled as part of the Festival. In many cases these works will be yours to keep for use in future concerts given by your ensemble. CoMA will advise you about which of its many Open Scores this applies to.
