Director of Music—Autumn 2024

Role Summary:

• Collaborate with the Committee on the programming and all areas of music and creative direction.
• Further develop the standard of musicianship in this enthusiastic, mixed ability orchestra in a manner which is encouraging and enjoyable for all.
• Attend all rehearsals and concerts
• Fully prepare the orchestra for the summer concert through regular rehearsals.

Requirements:

• Experience of conducting a symphony orchestra to a high standard.
• Knowledge and familiarity with the symphonic repertoire.
• A positive, friendly, motivated and committed attitude.  A desire to join a group that has built close friendships through a shared love of music.
• Established contacts, or have the potential to develop contacts, with soloists in the Bristol area.

Auditions and appointment:

Successful candidates will be invited to interview with the Committee and to an audition, involving conducting the orchestra at one of their regular practices during the Autumn. The person appointed will be self-employed and will be contracted initially for one year (to be reviewed yearly). Fee is subject to negotiation within our budget.
