KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To conduct rehearsals (including vocal exercises and warm-ups) of the chosen works and prepare the Choir for its performances;
- To conduct and direct the Choir and other performers at concerts;
- To ensure that the highest possible musical standards are achieved at rehearsals and concerts, consistent with the Choir’s musical and financial resources;
- To propose music for the Choir to rehearse and perform, subject to the Committee’s approval, the Choir’s musical and financial resources, and audience appeal.
The successful candidate will:
- Have significant successful experience of conducting large choirs and professional musicians and soloists;
- Be an inspirational, enthusiastic and encouraging leader with strong communication skills and the ability to work successfully with an amateur choir, promoting their enjoyment of rehearsals, musical knowledge and pleasure in performance;
- Have the knowledge and practical experience to plan concert repertoire, in conjunction with the Trustees, being mindful of marketability, cost constraints and singer resources;
- Have the ability and experience to achieve high standards of singing through knowledge and experience of singing techniques, vocal health, encouragement and patience.

- An indication of a possible starting date (our summer term will run from 15 March 2023 to our concert on 20 May. Our next full season will begin on 6 September).
- The work will be carried out on a self-employed basis and there will be an appropriate contract to be signed by agreement between the postholder and the Choir.
- We are expecting to pay an hourly rate in the region of £60-£70 per hour, with additional payments for concerts and travel expenses.
