Description of vacancy:

Chiltern Music Academy (CMA) is currently seeking experienced and passionate teachers to join our team in the following areas:

  • Choral Leader
  • Support Violin teacher for our Sing & String project
  • Private Violin/Viola teacher

Choral Leader

Part time choral specialist, initially for one term to cover long-term sick leave, joining an experienced team leading choirs for Year 2, Year 3, Years 4-5, Years 6-8 and Year 9-13 SATB. The self-employed contract will be to direct one or more of these choirs at the younger age range for 1 - 2.5 hours at CMA’s session in High Wycombe on Saturday mornings. These hours could be increased, with potential for choral workshops in schools. This temporary appointment may, for the right candidate, be extended in to the next academic year, depending on the candidate’s performance and the needs of CMA going forward.

Support Violin Teacher

Part time support violin teacher to work with a lead practitioner teaching Y2 students at schools in High Wycombe. The position will include on-the-job skills development to give you experience of whole class violin teaching. Initially, the self-employed contract will be for two hours in one school. These hours may be increased after the initial term if mutually agreeable. You will, depending on experience, be offered the opportunity to teach violin privately on Saturdays at CMA (optional).

Private Violin/Viola Teacher

Violin/viola teacher to teach privately for up to 3 hours on Saturday mornings in High Wycombe during term time. Most of the students will be young musicians with a year’s experience on our Find Your Forte scheme. You will have a free hand in organising your students, 1:1 or in small groups, and are free to set your own rates with parents. CMA will give you a practice room from which to teach and can help you with scheduling.
