Director of Music

The Phoenix Singers of Shrewsbury are seeking applications for the role of Musical Director (MD) following their 60th Anniversary celebrations in April 2026.

We are a friendly, well-established and highly-regarded chamber choir of around 45 auditioned singers, with a regular and enthusiastic audience following. We also welcome young adults (16-18) to audition and join us as part of their ongoing choral development.


Our repertoire is both !eclectic and challenging"; ranging from Renaissance to contemporary music, much of it a cappella. We usually prepare 3-4 concert programmes per year and perform in and around Shrewsbury. This year we were invited to sing as the

chorus in Haydn"s Creation as part of the English Haydn Festival in Bridgnorth and thoroughly enjoyed rehearsing and performing under Steven Devine.

We are looking for an inspirational, qualified and experienced director to lead us forward following the resignation of our current MD due to re-location. We rehearse on Thursday evenings during term-time at Crowmoor Baptist Church, Crowmere Rd, Shrewsbury.
