Sittingbourne Orpheus Choral Society, Well-established, Mixed-voice choir based in Sittingbourne Kent
SOCS have been in existence since 1945, we currently have 60 members with mixed musical abilities, and we pride ourselves on being a friendly community. We are looking for a new Musical Director from January 2026 to extend our repertoire, musical standards, develop the choir to attract younger members, and meet our commitments already planned for 2026 and beyond.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 19:45 to 21:45 at Tunstall School, Sittingbourne during term time.
We currently perform 3 times a year. Christmas, Spring and Summer. Spring usually a classical Concert with a supporting Orchestra and the Summer one being of a lighter nature of Musicals, Folk etc
Successful applicants shortlisted will be asked to attend an Interview and if successful, direct part of the choir's rehearsal, on a Tuesday night. The interview dates will be arranged for a Saturday Early October onwards and auditions with the choir will be in December 2025
The current remuneration package is £4,886 per annum for this position, paid quarterly in advance.
