Gaelic Choir Conductor

Application deadline:
Saturday, 30 December 2023
Description of vacancy:

Stirling Gaelic Choir is looking for an enthusiastic new Conductor, could that be you?  We are a small non-auditioned choir (around 30 members) singing a Gaelic language repertoire in unaccompanied four-part harmony.  We are a friendly group with a range of ages and musical/Gaelic language abilities.  Our main focus is on three or four competitive performances a year culminating in the Royal National Mod each October.  We also hold an Annual Concert and sing at local events such as Stirling Highland Games and the Open Streets Festival.

Unfortunately for us our lovely Conductor is relocating and we are looking for a Conductor from November 2023 with good musical skills - and a sense of humour! Knowledge and experience of Gaelic language and music are desirable, though not essential.  The Conductor and choir are supported by an active committee and a Gaelic tutor.

We meet every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm in Stirling.  Reasonable travel expenses from central Scotland would be reimbursed and an honorarium would be arranged between the committee and successful candidate.

To express interest, please email stirlinggaelicchoir@gmail.com for the attention of the choir president.  Anyone considering applying would be very welcome to come to one of our practices to meet us.
