Freelance Choir Leader

Our twenty-strong, non-auditioned choir includes those who first discovered their voice with us as well as lifelong singers. We enjoy everything from folk and choral pieces to musical theatre and pop. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings in Stoughton, Guildford. We’re proudly mixed-ability and seek a leader who’s committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all singers.

Role and responsibilities

• Lead Wednesday rehearsals from 7.30 pm – 9.00 pm, lead summer and Christmas concerts and occasional additional performances.
• Select and source music for the choir to learn.
• Communicate regularly with committee members and Contribute to creative and event planning through attending occasional committee meetings

Essential skills and experience

• Strong musical understanding. Repertoire knowledge. Conducting/leadership skills. Vocal coaching skills. Leadership skills. Inclusive and person-centred approach.

Desirable skills and experience

• Piano skills. Arranging/composing. Marketing and promotion

Terms

• Freelance role.
• Starting session rate of £60 per 90-minute rehearsal (to increase as membership grows).
• Additional fees for performances.
