Description of vacancy:
Swanage Town Band is looking for a new Musical Director / Conductor to take over from our current MD who retires early next year. We are a concert band with approximately 40 members. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive, friendly, community band. There are no auditions to join the band, everyone is welcome.
Rehearsals are weekly on Wednesday evenings throughout term times and we give public performances at Christmas, civic events and throughout the summer months at fetes and on the Swanage Bandstand (totalling approx. 8 to 10 gigs per year).
We like to encourage young musicians and many youngsters have joined us to play during their school years, leaving only when they go off to university, and often joining us to play during their holiday breaks.
Our current repertoire includes pop classics, medleys from films and shows, swing, Latin, jazz and light classical music.
