Musical Director Wanted – Thanet Chamber Choir (Kent)
Thanet Chamber Choir is seeking a new Musical Director to challenge and inspire us within a friendly, supportive and encouraging environment.
We are an auditioned chamber choir of around 30 able singers, based in Broadstairs, Kent, with members also travelling from Canterbury, Folkestone and Deal. We enjoy an excellent local reputation and perform a wide range of repertoire, with a particular focus on a cappella music.
About the Choir

Rehearsals: Monday evenings, 7:30–9:30pm (during school term time)

Performances: Four major concerts per year, plus occasional evensongs in Canterbury and Rochester Cathedrals

Collaborations: Regular work with children’s and youth choirs

Resources: Extensive music library and a rehearsal accompanist
The Role
We are looking for an inspiring conductor with:

Proven conducting experience and strong communication skills

A sense of humour combined with the ability to make rehearsals a pleasure

Ability to work with professional performers when required

Good contacts in the music world

Availability to attend at least three committee meetings annually and provide a report for the AGM
Terms

Start date: 1 January 2026

Approximately 34 rehearsals annually

Fees: £75 per rehearsal and £250 per concert
